Does every Mustang have a vibration point?
I have two 90 GT's(1 w/ 15s & 1 w/ 17s)and they both vibrate(dash & ster)around 65-70mph.
Does anyone else's do this?????????? |

My 95 does it bad! Mine occurs between 55-65mph, though sometimes it seems like it is worse than others.

that's very odd, i just thought my tires were out of balance or something, but my car does that also, and after about 65 it completely goes away. Go figure.

All of you shut up. At leats you have a roof!
I have to tighten the bolts on my roof again, cause they shake every bump I go over, but the normal vibration is about 65. [This message has been edited by dinomite (edited 04-24-2001).] |

Of course there is always the usual worn out u-joint and off balance tired which are the majority of the problem. But if you have an aftermarket gear/non factory ratio you also have the chance of vibrations occuring from the factory vibration dampener on the rearend(weighted for stock ratios). Its a big cast hunk of metal in somewhat of a wide U shape that bolts to the front of the housing under where the end of the pinion sticks out. This is of course not the cure to all problems, but after I put 3.73's in my rear the vibrations were horrible until I took it off. It won't cause any harm as most racers take them off anyway for weight reduction or throwing braces on the ends of the axle tubes up to the former weight mounts....

My weight has been off for a long time, as well as the 25lb weight found in the passenger side fender well on SN95 convertibles, the shake is the same now as it was then. It almost feels like I have a bent or broken radial, but I don't know. The insides of my tires wear prematurely and I thought this was the problem, I had the alignment checked and it was perfect, so I still don't know why the tires are wearing like this. The suspension is 100% stock too. It only occurs on the inside tread though, not inside and outside so its not an air pressure problem. Like I said above though, it seems like at times its worse than others, almost like its the worst when I first start driving, then after while it gets better, but still does it. I need new tires anyway, so hopefully when I replace them, the vibration will be minimized.
