![]() I have all the parts for my 302/331 stoker short block except a cam and and a set of pistons (can't decide). I think i also want to go with an alphabit cam but still want some low end power. I am
headed towards "F" But sence its a stoker it should have more torche anyway. So would would F be to much for the streets. I say ford cause i don't know much about any other brands. So i would consider any cam idea's except for Crane. And Where can i get some decent pistons (low compression) cheap? And any comments about a 331 stroker would be helpful too. Every little bit could help later on. One last thing... This engine is for a daily driver w/attitude kinda car.

![]() F cam is a awesome cam. It performs extremely well. It's also a good blower cam if you ever decide to throw on a blower. Check with JE, or Ross, or Diamond..any piston manufacturer for some pistons.

![]() Well ive been looking around and there are so many cams to choose from. All i want is a cam that has good torche that starts early, and a nice range of rpm's and will still have a good vacume for my EFI mustang.
Does "F" equal or have more low end torch then stock? What about "B" What would be the biggest differnce betwen "F" and B.

![]() F has pretty good low end torque. More so than stock. Only difference between F and the B cam is the duration and lift. The F cam has a intake and exhaust lift of .512 and has a duration of 226 226 at .050. The B cam has an intake and exhaust lift of .480 and the duration is 224 224 @.050. hope this helps.

![]() i was opened to custom cams this year and i swaer by them now..pay the extra $$ over a alphabet no split anything cam and call bennetracing or someone alse and have em cut one just for your car

![]() I was told that if split the duration much that it would cause you to loose vacuum... That's sorta why i was going to stick with a ford cam... Any expererience? Anybody?

![]() im runnin the B cam in my 347 stroker an it still makes awsome power even with the added stroke. for the size thats one hell of a cam, i wouldnt rule it out

![]() fiveOguy, how much hp are you running from your setup?
What would be a good set up far as heads and intake... i want to reach 375 hp. But i hear its best to match your heads, intake, and cam up much as possible.

![]() well i've never had the car dynoed so i dont know for sure but i'd say anywhere from 365-380 at the flywheel. an about 400+ lb. ot torque. its relitively mild 347, but runs very strong.
347, gt-40 aluminum heads, Bcam, crane roller rockers, full MSD ignition, pullies, air-gap intake, BBK equal length shorties, holley 735, 40 series flows.. Lower ends ready for spray ![]() |

![]() well its not hard to reach that 375 hp from a 347 haha.. get a good set of heads,cam, an intake an ur pretty much there, what combo u want to run depends on what u want outa the car.. do u want a daily driver or track only car? then decide from there

![]() Well i have seen a couple examples of EFI Strokers having 400+ horsepower.... They either had a good set of aluminum heads ported (347 making 475 horse), or they had a set of 4500 dollar heads (331 stroker by bennet racing producing 485 horse.) Both engines where running trick flow heads. So i think my best bet is just to get some heads ported. Still don't know which cam, heads, or intake im going ot use.

![]() I see you have a 94-95, just be prepared, you will more than likely need a tuning devise of some sort (ie eec tuner, tweecer, custom chip) to get the car to idle with a cam swap. The T4MO computer is finiky when it comes to cam swaps. The E303 is notorious for having idle issues in our cars.
I too suggest the custom cam idea, that's what I did and i couldn't be happier. I made up my mind that I wanted the car to be the best it could be, and I didn't worry about the idle issues as I knew I'd rather get it tuned and have the best cam I could rather than getting a "safe" cam like the steeda #19 and leave some power on the table. I couldn't be happier with the power my car produces and the times it runs due to its weight. I solely recommend Ed Curtis of http://www.flowtechinduction.com He is a great guy to deal with, he is the most helpful person I've ever met, and he knows his stuff. Take a look at his customer page and see what they are running... its impressive!

![]() I personally prefer split pattern cams. I have had 7 different cams in the last 2 302 and 351W motors. Most custom designed by myself.
This is an off the shelf (wimpy for my S-trim) TFS stage-I cam: ![]() A wee bit wimpy for my S-trim combo, but wanted NOT to hit 500rwhp and split block, and may get something custom ground next year...

![]() for starters, i wouldn't run low compression pistons as you are asking for. and since you are loooking to step up in power and still keep your bottom end torque, you need the compression to make up for your loss of cylinder pressure down low, unless you are going with a blower, but i will assume it will be n/a.i would recommend a cam with about 224 degrees at .050 with a lobe seperation ( this is where you can keep good vacuum at idle) around 114. this will give you good power up to 6000 rpm and still have decent bottom end torque. but i have this recommendation, when you stroke a 302, you are just doing what ford already did for you with the 351. and if you have been in a 351 car, you need to .

![]() Well i went to the place i got my car dyno'd today and they said a cam with 225 duration and a lift of somewhere around 5.500..
Then he said what you should really do is call and have one made just for you... Man that's twice as much almost but i guess its worth it? I hate to look back and say man i should have put in a better cam when it was being put together. This is my first real motor project... so i think i will stay small (302) then work my way up to 351 someday.
