89LX said it best,it is a crap-shoot with any sticky tire and an aggressive launch,I broke an axle on the street in a 82 GT 4-speed with Michelin TRX tires on it go figure.
To answer your question,Drag Radials are a little more forgiving then slicks,but once again it is a crap-shoot.
Good luck and 250 dollars for towing? I would push it first.

the reason for it being around 250 for towing is the track I go to is a little over 40miles from my house
