![]() this **** is driving me insane....I've had to do this many times and it is getting a little bit frantic. The thing is i have the high flow converters and there is a little tube going from the passenger side converter all the way into the engine bay. I have been told that it is the smog pump line. Anyway this line tends to break off from the converter and then I have an exhaust leak...It sounds like **** . What can I do about that??? I am planning to take the converters out and make it an off road. What do I do about the line can I cut it off and plug it or what should I do? What would be the effects? Good or Bad? Man Ihope you guys can help me out in this matter becauseI am getting sick of this **** and I don't want to sell my car. Thanks.....please reply quick becasue I am going to take it today to the muffler shop.

![]() When you get your offroad, there will be a pipe that will connect to also...simply get a piece of the correct size heater hose and clamp the pipes together...I wouldn't suggest plugging it up, unless you mean just for a temporary hack until you get your offroad...

![]() Typically most people just use some hi temp hose to bridge the two... Been 2 yrs no leaks yet. If the tube is broken off flush with the pipe just weld it up.

![]() I spoke to my muffler guy and he said that I would have to take the smog pump out in order for me to take the little pipe out....Is this true? or is he pulling my leg or wallet???? Does this pipe serve a purpose?????? thanks guys for the speedy responses.

![]() He's pulling your leg man...it bolts to the back passenger side right above the header in that pile of crap that we all love...then it branches off down to the smog pump via a rubber hose

![]() yeah man, but it is a part of the smog pump. the thermactor valve and all that "crap we all love" plugs into the rear of the heads and i dont think you want any open vaccuum pulling in there! i plugged my off road h pipe by welding it, and removed all the smog crap. you can do that yourself and not cost hardly anything. id be surprised if the muffler shop did it for you anyway. they wouldnt even weld my h pipe so i took it to a welding shop. i even told them it was for an off road car. (yeah right!)it would clean it up a good bit to get rid of that smog pump and the thermactor and the hose your reffering to. wont pass echecks though unless you know some tricks. i dont have to take them so far,,,,,,,(pounding on wood!)

my pipe that runs from the smog pump to the cats was hanging in the car when i got it, so i bent it and pulled it out i have an offroad H-pipe as well\ 91GT ------------------ SHaFTed |

![]() Heres what to do...get about 6in of 1-1/2" heater hose and 2 hose clamps. Measure the distance between the end of the smog pump line and the line welded to the cat pipe. Cut that length in hose plus a little extra and then, bam, you're done! Wasn't that easy! Taking the smog pump off is illegal and I just posted a message here (offroad h-pipe nightmare?) where someone replied and stated that his friend received a hefty fine for taking his off. Anyway, good luck
