Talking I want my car to go on a diet !!!!!!!!!

MMMMMMMK, My car is an everyday driver now but im gonna get another car to drive to work. What should I do to my 91 COUPE to get it as light as possible? It will no longer be an everyday driver so I dont care what i have to take off of it to make it light. By the way it is a fully loaded coupe. A/C and all still in it. The only thing it doesnt have is power seats.

Pretty much what he said.

Here's a list of things you can do:
1. Buy the Ford Racing A/C delete and get rid of that brick.
2. Smog pump too. No delete kit needed.
3. Move the battery to the back.
4. Remove rear seat.
5. Pull all the carpet and remove the sound dedoner.
6. Who needs a passenger seat in a drag car?
7. Pull the front sway bar.
8. Remove the charcoal canister (I think that's what it is) on passenger side frame rail below the alternator.
9. Get a tubular crossmember.
10. Aluminum heads will help a lot too.
11. Lightweight wheels like Weld Drag Lites will lower the weight a bit especially if you use skinnies on the front.
12. Remove the front bumper support. You may need to make something that is lighter weight to put back in it's place because I've seen pics of the front bumper caving in at high speeds. That will cause aerodynamic drag.
13. Door panels can go.
14. Headliner - yank it
15. Plastic interior panels - gone
16. Remove anything else that doesn't hold the car together, make it go faster, or keep the car driving in a straight line.

After all that you'll be driving around in a steel box with an engine in it that should pull the front wheels up a foot or so with all the power you are making and a set of sticky tires

Fastest way to remove about 170lbs is to get out of the car. If you can find a way to drive the car from the outside you'll have it made.

I already did lose 20 pounds. I tried getting rid of about 500 pounds off of the car but it didnt work very good without the motor in the car.

Get rid of the gas tank and install a fuel cell.

Take care,

My 88 GT weighed around 3100 lbs stock. It now weighs about 2750.

I did everything mentioned above.

Weight makes a big difference. I trap 112 on motor with only 309 RWHP/310 RWTQ.

What i did was tubular K, arms, coil-overs, TRW m-rack, no a/c. I only run two accesories. W/p and alt. I bought the March alt. bracket and it looks so freakin nice. I use a rod end to adjust tension on my belt. NO TENSIONER OR IDLER!! Car weighs 2840 with full interior and 8-point.
