DYNO results today!!!!!

Howdy guys....haven't been around in a while. Well, I have spent the last 2 1/2 weeks on vacation and driving the wheels off of my car. I have put 2400 miles on my new motor....I wanted to get about 3000, but with the track closing next weekend and my vacation over, I wanted to get it going now so I called Coast and my motor builder and they said it would be O.K. So this morning I am heading down to the dyno do tune the baby in.

I romped a little on it last night....MAN THE POWER. It is so fun, I kinda need bigger tires now. I got on the turnpike and nailed it in 3rd at about 4000 and got sideways and before I knew it I was up to about 120 in 4th. I love it.

I will post results later today when I get back.

Good luck on the dyno!!! Where is this dyno located at? Just curious because I am currently living in Tulsa, OK and was wondering if there were any good dyno's close by.

Ok guys....sorry for the delay, I was at the shop for 6 hours doing different things....pretty interesting, disappointing and good.

I did 12 runs with the blower hooked up and 3 with it unhooked just to see how the Stroker performed.

My first run was a dog, but what can you expect with a new motor.

Run 1
Max HP: 463.3 rwhp
Max TQ: 491.5 rwtq

I did some tuning, set my timing at 13* with my boost retard at 2 FP at 47psi.

Run 4
Max HP: 492.5 rwhp
Max TQ: 518.1 rwtq

Yadda yadda yadda, more tunung, some lost power here, some more power there, here is my best run. I set my timing at 12* and my BTM at 1*, set my fuel pressure at 49 psi and let 'er rip....here it is.

Run 10
Max HP: 516.4 rwhp
Max TQ: 553.0 rwtq

Here is the disappointing part.

I took my blower belt off making the blower useless, just a free air port, bumped my timing to 18 and dropped my fp to 45 psi.

My best run N/A
Run 15
Max HP: 376.3 rwhp
Max TQ: 412.8 rwtq

Now I am extremely mad that I only gained 140 hp with 9 lbs of boost. I guess it is the blower but I am happy overall. I am making roughly 600 fwhp and 647 rwtq.

Now I am just worried about my "new" tranny holding up.

This weekend I am going to the track to see what all I can break, so I will keep you posted. The analyzer says I should run 10.80's @ 125-127 mph. I doubt it though.

C-ya later.

Those numbers look good to me.

What RPM did the horsepower peak at? Also, what size headers and H-pipe are you using?

Those are some nice numbers. Unfortunately the power you achieved during your best run will not stay since your computer will adapt out the extra fuel you added by raising the fuel pressure. The upside is that you know that your engine will run better with a richer air/fuel ratio. You can get a chip burned or buy an SVO extender to tweak that so it stays.

Do you have a power graph that you can scan in and post?

Well 140hp for 9psi isn't too bad in my opinion. A stock car will pick up about 10hp per psi, so you're doing much better than that. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif

302 LX Eric 11-01-2001 08:23 AM

I think your numbers are great. Even N/A, I think they are very impressive. I may have missed it earlier, but what are the specs on your motor? I guess I could go to user rides, but I'm just lazy today http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif

Overall, I would be very happy with the numbers. Just imagine 11 or 12 lbs. of boost. Jeeeezzz! BTW - what kind of "new" tranny do you have behind that monster?

Good luck at the track...with all of the power you are making, you probably won't be able to really get on it until the 1000' mark! http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif

Rick 91GT 11-01-2001 02:14 PM

I think those numbers look good Dustin, a bigger blower that feeds that motor more air will make big HP, the BD-11 is just out of breath and the motor is using everything it can take, I'd be happy.

I think the tranny will live if you ease it out of the hole and don't power shift it, if you turn 125 with a decent 60 you'll go low 10.40's--10.30's. Good Luck let me know how it goes.

Jim- My phone lines at home are all screwed up so I can't get on at night, I did just get the Speedbrain ECU on mine since Dad went to a PMS..I'll let you know how it does.
