![]() Thought I might pick at your brains for a little bit because I've heard of problems with these on Mustangs, too. Is anyone using the MSD ignitions and having troubles with them? Like the motor shutting off while driving and/or the motor not wanting to fire up? It'll crank but won't fire up. It's pretty sporadic, too. The motor quit on me 3 times last Tuesday. Then didn't have any troubles untill Saturday night when it wouldn't start. I then just unplugged the MSD 6A and plugged in the factory plug and it worked fine. Then Sunday hooked the MSD back up and it's been working so far. I also have the MSD Blaster TFI coil. Is there any known problems with those coils? They are both about a year old. The ignition box is mounted on the passenger's side fender next to the solenoid just FYI. BTW, this is on my Lightning.

![]() Well if you have the MSD mounted in the engine compartment, I suggest you mount it inside the car. MSDs don't realy like heat or vibration. MSDs can be flaky. You can always remove it and send it back to MSD to get it fixed under warranty.

![]() I've had an MSD 6AL for about 4yrs and have had no problems with it. I'm not running the tfi type coil, but the blaster 2 coil. This is also on a 90' stang. The MSD has also been transplanted from a 91 firebird that i used to own. I can't say that i have ever run into a problem.
It soumds like there's something wrong with the unit if it's causing the car to completely shut off. Give MSD a call, this is there direct tech line(915)855-7123. ![]() Sounds like a bad connection somewhere. I hooked up my MSD 6BTM about 2 months ago, and haven't had a single problem. Of course, I soldered & heat-shrinked each and every connection. Nothing is exposed or left to chance. Even the grounds are soldered to the EEC-IV's harness grounds, the battery itself, AND the chassis of the car! If you used "crimp" connectors, they need to be removed and replaced with soldering. No questions about that. Also, I did mount my MSD box behind the driver's seat, so mebbe that has SOMETHING to do with it...then again, I drive this car every single day, so....unless I got incredibly lucky, I think MSD's reputation for producing a quality product is still well intact.
