LOL, one of the female marketing specialists was talking about my exhaust again today. For like an hour.

I've got the Dynomax Super Turbo's and a BBK hiflow H (which added some sound). It sounds pretty badass, more bigblockish than a small block. The tone is very deep and it has a seriously throaty sound under acceleration. Moderate drone at 2100-2500rpms. At 3400-3600 it makes some awesome sound under full on accleration. Still, it's pretty quiet if you want it to be. Just keep it out of the drone, and you can still talk. Nobody will mistake it for stock, but it's definately quieter than most.

I've received numerous compliments on my super turbo systems. People are always like, that thing sounds so badass, but it's not offensive.

Unit, I have the same exact setup but for my 351. Your description of them is right on. I get compliments on the sound all the time.

I have had the Dynomax Super Turbo cat back for about 5 years now, and I like it a lot. Initially, I was going to get Flowmasters (like everyone else had) but they did not make stainless tips at the time - so the parts guy recommended the Dynomax system (and said he liked it better anyway). Now I am glad I got the Dynomax - they do sound great. Although, if you are looking to rattle windows, they are not THAT loud!

I have the dynomax super turbo's too. When I just had the Cat back they were not much louder than stock I thought. But when I had my off-road H-pipe put on, totally different story! They are fairly quiet but very deep and mean sounding.

I even got a complaint from some of the condo owner's in my old place. They would complain when my car was warming up in the morning. Not because it was that loud, but because the sound was so deep that it was disturbing everyone .

Oh well, I wish I could hear my exhaust again soon...another 2 months before I get the the car and the wife and hit Dallas

Please don't flame me, but IMO I think the Dynomax's sound terrible. It is proven on dyno's that the Dynomax's make more power, but I just can't live with that Big Block Monte Carlo sound (sorry, that is what it sounds like to me, and sounding like any Chevy shouldn't be a compliment).

I have 2 chamber flows, nothing compares to them in sound (yes, I have heard macs, they sound good though). I am considering a muffler change though. I might go with 3 chamber flows or mac flowpaths. I want which-ever one has less drone. I will not settle for Dynomax.

Are macs set up like flows or do they have fiberglass packing in them? Also a word of advice is to listen to cars in real life (not the computer sound clips), because computers don't do them justice. I didn't like macs from a sound clip, but liked them on a car.

Just my opinion.

I set off alarms when I go through parking garages and I was pulled over for being too loud once. The cop didn't think I had cats, but I showed him I did. He didn't have a leg to stand on anyway, so he gave me a "warning".

I'll try to get a recording of what they sound like, but I don't think the mic will pick up the deep rumble.

Don't worry man, I don't think anyone would flame you here because of your taste in V8 sound!

I am just as picky with my tastes too. I didn't really like the Dynomax before I took off the H-pipe, but after I loved it. It's all a personal taste thing.

I recommend that you hear, in person, each system you are intersted in.

Here's the deal. You want power get Dynomax. You want sound get Flowmaster. 'nuff said.

If you go to Dynomax's site, they go through their whole line of exhaust, and if i was gonna get anything from dynomax, i would get the high flow mufflers, they show flow charts with the different mufflers, and the high flow one WAY out flow the super turbo's, sound is sound, and its good to make a badass sound rollin down the road but you also want some horses to go with it, and more free flowing exhaust you have, the more horsepower you can achieve....

well, i really want a cat back, but the way its lookin right now, im gona have to just get some glasspacks($20)& ill make my own dumps. until i can afford a cat back. i could buy dynomax superturbos from rbatson for 50 used, but the shipping & exchange rate is a B!TCH (im in canada). i hope the glasspacks will still be almost as nice sounding as it is right now.
thanks for all the replys though.

(if your wondering why i have no money, im 16, no job right now, & i still need a wheel, mirror & side ground effects, go to "my site" & see pics if you dont believe me)

I vote in favor of flowmaster's. Everyone has them. Ain't that a good enough reason. I know what you mean about not having money for an exhaust system. They sure can get expensive. Mine ran me about $900 and I've heard of people spending well over that.

Everyone has them...that's why you don't want rustmasters. I have dynomax ultra flos with dumps and with the cam and off road hpipe, it sounds mean as hell. The ultra flos are stainless steel too like borla and bassani. My roommate's firebird had a rustmaster on it for a year, and we took it off and could shake the rust out of it. Junk.

What I find the funniest in this, is that everyone is babbling about how you want power, get more flow.

Har har har... You'll pick up a whopping 5hp with a catback. WHooo hooo. All the power is sealed up in the 4 cat h-pipe, it's not like the mufflers/exhaust pipes are really restricting you. Any 2.5" mandrel bent cat-back system is gonna give you more flow than what a stock or near stock 5.0 will EVER use.

That arguement is null and void.

Here's my take, if you want to sound like your car's mufflers are hollow and cheap, get flowmaster, if you want it to sound powerful (not loud) get Dynomax. If you want to get it for less money, buy the Dynomax. You can get a cat-back for that GT for about $170 from Dynomax. If you want to have exclusivity, get Bassani or Borla. If you want loud and raspy, get MAC.
