Default E Brake Button

1989 Mustang
Gentlemen, my e brake button and rod and spring came out of the e brake handle. Don't ask. I have now bunged up the rod. QUESTION.....Can I get just the rod and button assembly, and insert it? Or am I screwed? The rod has several bends in it. What's the trick to get it in?

Thanks
JIm
