Default E-cam vs. custom cam-Worth the money?

I am ordering a 347 stroker kit this December. My car performs very well with the E-cam.

I was wondering if anyone has went from an E-cam to a custom cam and if they thought it was worth the extra money.

combo will be 10.4 to 1 347 stroker
Canfield heads 2.02 1.60
cam????
ported cobra intake.

Absolutely worth every penny. Off-the-shelf cams can be easily out performed by the right custom cam so why spend the money twice. You're easily leaving 30hp on the table by running an E-303 cam with that combination. Talk to a custom cam builder and let them recommend a cam that will work well with the parts you've selected.

Nuf said! Cam manufacturer's try to give you a few choices, with "all things considered". This means that they "ballpark" the cam, regarding your intake, heads, headers, comp. ratio. etc etc. Also according to what you want out of the cam, ie. idle quality, fuel mileage, HORSEPOWER, etc etc.

A custom cam is built for YOUR engine, and YOUR needs. You want Fuel mileage, you got it. You want HP, it's all you. The only drawback here, is when you "upgrade" you no longer have the optimal cam. But when you go off the shelf, you NEVER had the optimal cam. Spend the few extra bucks now, well, well, well, worth the cheddar! May I recommend Cam Motion? www.cammotion.com
