EFI convert to carb??
How easy would it be to change my 88lx to a carborated vechile i want to strip all the electronic Sh** off and do it the old school way has anyone done this to there mid 80 stangs??? will i have alot of problems? do i need to change anything with the ECU. How about distributor? any advice would be great

You will need a different distributor, fuel pump, fuel lines, intake, carb, fuel pressure reg, and cable bracket.

Yeah...what he said. Once the computer controlled/EFI related parts are replaced by carb parts, all the emissions and electronics can come off. That's what I've done anyhow.

thanks for the info, did it take you along time to do this, was it a bit## to do. how much money do you think i will spend. will i have to change all the wireing around to get it to run wiht a new distributor?

It isn't as simple as some say, I'm finally completing my swap, and it cost me plenty...If you decide to rewire the stock gauges it'll take some time, and DO NOT get rid of your harnesses until you've rewired.
My swap cost so much becuase I revamped my entire fuel system, with a sumped tank, and Aeroquip fittings, and lines...your Dizzy will wire up no problem, I went woth a Mallory Unilite, and it only required me to find an ignition lead The only things other than the gauges that you'll need to rewire are the dizzy, and fuel pump....anymore questions shoot me an email gofastlx@yahoo.com Rob |
