Default electrical drain

Help guys: On my 88lx I have from 3.5 to 5 amps draw when I put a meter inline, this is with the key out and nothing on. I pulled each fuse one at a time with no change in the draw. What next? How do I tell if I have an external regulator or internal to the alternator?

I'm not sure how you can tell...other than the fact that I doubt you'll be able to spot an external voltage regulator on your '88. I'm just about positive that all '87-'93 Mustangs came with the regulator inside the alternator.
