Default Need help, friends car with electrical problem!

His car is an 85 coupe, carbed motor, original 4 banger i think (now 347 forged, tfs heads), anyway we just torqued down the heads after replacing head gaskets, he also bought a brand new battery, it is trunk mounted, he hooked up the battery, and a wire started cooking in the engine compartment? It came out of a harness, a green wire that goes to the starter solenoid?? is it just because the wiring cant handle the juice? it is a badazz battery that has lots of cranking power? i know these problems are always a mystery, but since its a non efi motor, it should be easy to trace? im stumped though. any opinions are welcome thnx fellas...

Also, he is trying to hook up gauges in the process, but he says he cant find the fuse box, that i didnt look for.
