engine knocking at high rpm
 

Any clues on this? I'm using presumably 91 octane gas, all stock except K&N filter and plugs (platinum ones, but it happened with the originals too). My car currently has 25k,and is really babied. Wynn's octane booster can work?

i would think its the timing, whats it at??? but other than that i dont know

It's a good possiblity the timing is too high, but I'll have to check it first. I might be wrong but it appears or gets worse when the weather is hot.

If you have a 95 GT, you are falling into the same boat as a lot of us, I know the corral has a ton of posts dealing with this, might read up. Some say a chip is the only way to do it, since Ford tried to squeeze too much from the car as far as mpg, so they tend to run very lean naturally. Others say a adj. fuel reg will help, set the pressure a little higher. good luck.

Slo95: At least I feel somewhat more confortable it is a common problem for us; would you say a superchip will solve it? And the fuel regulator is readily available?

Most recommend the jms chip, but I would think the superchip would do it, and you can have it reflashed as you build. Also seen some cool stuff about the diablo, now that user s/w is available (or soon). I think all the negative chip posts stem from the "off the shelf pre made" flavor, getting one somewhat custom is better. Plus I think the 94-95 have a different computer that seems to respond better to eec mods (chips). You can try the adj. fuel regulator for about $100, if it doesn't work, that was a third of the chip! but still nice to have to tailor the fuel pressure.

I have the same issue with my car, and it is the computer. Ford changed alot of things between the 93 and 94-95 models. A custom chip is the way to go. or you could break down and get an EEC tuner and do it yourself. That is the route I am taking. It should be delived by Friday. I'll let you know the results.
