Default Loss Power

I have a 92 mustang LX 5.0. I have lost about 50% ofmy HP. Here are the things I have checked:

I have checked the Idle Air controller, TPS, Wires, plugs, Distributer, cap, Rotor, and the fuel pressure regulator.

Here is how the car is acting:

When the engine is cold, it pops back through the intake and has absolutly no power. When it warms up, it idles fine and runs a little better, but if I give it 50 % or more throttle it boggs down. I have the timing set on 14 degrees and getting spark knock even running 93 octane. If I turn the timing down to the stock 10 degrees, I loose the spark knock but it has less HP than a 4cyl. engine.

I have checked the timing with #1 cyl. to 0 degrees on the balancer and was dead on the money.

Anyone who has any ideas or solutions please reply.

Thanks

Lightbulb No power

Possible Mass Air malfunction.

I suggest you either buy a code scanner or have the engine scanned at a shop in order to find the specific problem. A malfunction that causes that much power loss will throw codes and then you'll know where to look for a fix instead of flailing around and guessing.

Thanks for your reply. I checked the codes and everything turned out clean.
The power does vary at given times. Sometimes it runs at about 75% and sometimes it runs at 25%. I gave an average of 50%.
I have exhaused all of my ideas....

Is there a possibility that my timing chain has slipped a tooth? As I mentioned previously, I did make sure that I had the #1 cly in-line with the 0 degree mark on the balancer.

Thanks for your help

Default Lost Power

Is there a way to check the mass air flow without buying a new one?
