car wont start :(
I had to park my stang about 2 weeks ago b/c the transmission went out and i finally found a good place to fix it and i was getting ready to head up there to drop it off and it would try to start sometimes and others it would choke out or keep stuttering and then stall. Does it sound like it might be my fuel pump?
The strange part is just yesterday I turned it on and let it warm up cuz it had been so long since its been on, but it seemed to sound ok until i reved it up and it stuttered a little but never stalled. Can anyone tell me what the stock gauges for the speedometer registers for a 1991 Gt Convertible. My speedometer is off and Im thinkin maybe its b/c whom ever had it before me maybe swapped it out cuz its 15 off and the position the hand is in while in my car is in the same spot as my moms would register when doing 55 but my would read 70. But hers registers only 85 mine doesnt. (do you understand what im tryin to say ) |

Does the check engine light come on?
I'd be suspect of a bad connection with the Throttle Position Sensor, Mass Airflow Sensor, or the main injector wiring harness near the back of the engine. Your speedo should go to 140mph. |

I'm transferring this topic to the Windsor Power Forum.
I'd check fuel pressure and spark color. Good luck. ------------------ Capri306, Moderator, The Mustang Works Online 1979 Mercury Capri, 5.0L -- C4 -- 2.73 1987 Mustang LX Notch |

Your speedo problem is probably because someone put gears in without changing the speedo gear. See if they register the same at 10mph, 20mph, 30mph, etc. If it gets consistently farther off then you need to find out what gears you have.

Jack the car up. Crawl underneath and have somebody turn the wheel over 1 full rotation. Count how many times the driveshaft spins. Be accurate, you need to be within 1/4 of a spin on the driveshaft.
If it goes almost 2 3/4 times, you've got 2.73's. If it goes 3 times you've got 3.08's. 3 1/4, you've got 3.27's. 3 1/2, 3.55's. 3 3/4, 3.73's. A tick over 4, 4.10's. So on and so on. |
