Post Error Code 67

1991 GT... I got a code 67 in the KOEO test, but no error codes (11) in the KOER test... can anybody translate for me? I ran the test because I began to notice that I got the Check Engine light when running over 3000 RPM while the engine was cold... once it was warm, the light stayed off. In addition, the occurs only in cold weather. I wonder if the computer is stuck in open loop? Either way, I would appreciate it if someone could help decipher tthe code 67. Thanks.

My Haynes manual says a 67 code is "Manual Lever Position (MLP) out of range".

My Ford How to Understand, Service and Modify Ford Fuel Injection & Electronic Engine Control 1988-1993 Manuel says that 67 trouble code in a Key on Engine Off(KOEO) it is the Neutral Pressure Switch (NPS) circuit open(3.0L MAP, 3.0L MAF-SFI,3.8L SFI).

In a continuous memory Clutch Switch Circuit Failure

In a key on engine off (koeo) & Running (ER)Neutral Drive Switch (NDS),circuit open: A/C input high

In a key on engine off and Continuous Memory it is a Manual Lever Position (MLP) sensor out of range; A/C input high(4.9L MAP, 5.8L Map)

If you are not experiencing any no start conditions, then you need to replace your Neutral Gear Switch (NGS. The NDS is for automatic transmissions) on the tranny. This, however, should not have any effect while driving. In your specific vehicle, a code 67 is only triggered during KOEO. If the MIL is still coming on, there should be a code stored. Next time the MIL flashes, check for codes as soon as possible. If you wait more than a few days, it will be cycled out of memory. Are you experiencing any drivability problems, or just an annoying MIL?

Drivablility problems... would this have anything to do with me having to really jam the tranny into first gear after I have stopped at a light? Or perhaps why I have to yank on the stick to get it into 2nd?

Would you know how much this switch costs for a Tremec 3550? And do you know if I have to open the case to replace it? Thanks.

It's externally mounted. It lists from Ford for around $48.

The problems you describe with shifting aren't caused by the switch, but may have caused the switch to fail.
