EXCESSIVE MOTORSPORTS SUCKS
I am furious. I purchased a motor from Excessive Motorsports in Blue Springs, MO this spring. It was a GT-40p headed motor with a TFS stage 1 cam and the heads had a "stage 2" port that was advertised to make 325 HP. I had HPMotorsport here in Omaha install the motor in my stang (they also threw on a set of 1.6 RRs).
After I got my car back I could tell it wasn't making anywhere near 325 HP. I took it to the dyno and showed that I was making about 260 peak-power (not RWHP) at 4500 RPM. We had to turn the fuel-pressure down to 28 psi and it still ran super rich. Back to the drawing board. My dyno-guy recommended I put the stock 19# injectors back on. I also determined that the valve springs may be inadequate. Excessive Motorsport left the stock Explorer valve springs on a motor they put a high-performance cam in (talk about stupid). I went back to the dyno and got the exact same results. 260 peak power at 4500 RPMs. Again we had to turn the fuel pressure down to 28 psi with the stock injectors (WTF?). Back to the drawing board. The only thing I could think of was that the valves weren't opening at the right time. I took my stang back to HPM yesterday to have them check the cam. They pulled all of the front accessories and low and behold the cam was off by a tooth. The good news is that my car now makes tons of upper-RPM power. I am so happy to have my car running again. It is strong and I will be whooping some @ss!!! The bad news.... Excessive Motorsport won't do a d@mn thing to reimburse me. I was dealing with a guy there named Brett, but he is leaving the company in the next couple of weeks and they won't let me speak with him. The prick that I was talking to had the balls to tell me that he was looking at my history and this appears to be the first time I've contacted him about this. I've contacted these a-holes at least 3 times and I've got the long-distance bills to prove it. He also had the balls to tell me that they don't warranty their high-performance motors. They don't even guarantee that the f$ck-wad who puts the cam in knows his @sshole from his elbow. He was very rude and condescending throughout our conversation. KC is only 3 hours from Omaha and I may just end up taking a little road trip one of these days. I've got about $900 dollars in dyno/labor racked up over the last 3 months that I shouldn't have had to incur. I may have to take it out of someone's @ss down there. I'm sure it will make the news! I would recommend that no one give this company any business. I hope you all will recommend the same for others. Unfortunately, my problems don't seem too bad in light of today's tragedy (the World-Trade Center catastrophe). ------------------ Eric - 89 Mustang LX coupe 302 - Cobra Intake - GT40p heads - TFS stage 1 cam - FRPP 1.6 roller rockers - Naturally Aspirated 3:73 gears - KYB shocks and struts - Eibach springs - HPM Mega-bite Jr lower control arms - HPM upper control arms |

Same MO everytime. Excessive Motorsports screws everybody over. On a side note, maybe somebody should start a class action law suit against them.
|
I had the same problem with NAMOTORSPORTS, then they went out of business with my money. I called Excessive once about a part and they had an attitude so i hung up. They are excessive, excessively stupid.
|
Most people here already know about excessive and how terrible they are, but sorry to hear about your experience.
If only we could get Ben Ladin to fly into excessive motorsports, the world would be a better place. Theres no excuse for the way their customer service out right lies to people. ------------------ 1993 GT/AOD '93 Mustang GT |

Been down that Road and they are a Piece of **** to make it Blunt!!
|
they port their heads with a sawzall and mill them with a belt sander. Their $50,000 renegade car that runs high 10's is testimony enough that they are idiots!
|
I've seen numerous posts about how bad the service is with Excessive so I have stayed away. But, before I ever heard one bad thing about them I had placed an order for a complete set of March polished aluminum underdrive pullies with the power steering pulley which never arrived. I ordered them C.O.D so I was out nothing, but I find it funny that they never sent the order which was over $250.
Maybe someone needs to inform Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords magazine that one of their regular advertisers is ripping people off. I cringe every time I turn the page to see one of their ads. How the hell are these guys staying in business??????????????? http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/mad.gif Sorry to hear of your dealings with them Eric. ------------------ Gunning for 12's! http://www.indianastangers.com/2Fast..._brd_logo2.gif Buy your parts here ICQ# 42269241 |

Muscle Mustangs knows about them but they get so much money from those ads they could care less. |
Get this....
I've learned from a few different parts manafacturers that their credit is horrible. Everyone that ships them anything has to ship COD. They hardly have any parts in stock at their shop. They tell all of their customers that the part is on back-order, then charge their credit card and then order the part from the manafacturer. This has happened to me all three times I've dealt with them. Once on a radiator, once with a throttle-body and also with the motor I purchased. THIS PLACE IS A JOKE. " they port their heads with a sawzall and mill them with a belt sander. Their $50,000 renegade car that runs high 10's is testimony enough that they are idiots!" -- That is hilarious! ------------------ Eric - 89 Mustang LX coupe 302 - Cobra Intake - GT40p heads - TFS stage 1 cam - FRPP 1.6 roller rockers - Naturally Aspirated 3:73 gears - KYB shocks and struts - Eibach springs - HPM Mega-bite Jr lower control arms - HPM upper control arms |
I hate to be a me too, but I think it is fitting. I live about 40 miles from the place, and have "stopped in" a few times. Showroom is about 20'x20', and only a few items on the shelves. Two doors hide the "warehouse", whether or not there is anything in there is another story. I wanted to pick up a few things, cat back kit, h pipe, LCA's, throttle body, gaskets, a bottle of water wetter - things kinda commom - and like others have said, they were on back order from the manufacturer, but call anyone else, and they are on the shelf. Not to mention the sarcastic-condescending attitudes. crazy.
I read all the bad things about the place, and a few good ones saying the company catered to locals. Well, I guess 40 miles is not local enough...thanks goodness for internet and magazines! |
I'm on the other side of kansas city and had to go in there once. I needed just a clutch disc for my centerforce setup and called them as a last resort. They told me on the phone that they had it so i told them to hold it for me and i would be there in an hour. Well i got down there and Mitch Black who happens to be the owner was a dick and mysteriously didn't have the disc. He told me that the computer showed it but it wasn't in stock. With my parts knowledge if you have someone coming from an hour away you make sure you have the part to avoid confrontation. Needless to say he got an earful.
|
I'm surprised that they can still afford those ads in the magazine--they must be getting a substantial discount for a 12-month contract or something.
Though I've never ordered anything from Excessive, the word on the Internet has convinced me to never try. I'll gladly pay a few extra bucks to make sure that things go smoothly. However, though it seems that everyone and his sister is 'Net savvy these days, I'll wager that we're still in the minority when it comes to places like Excessive. We all know they suck, but the vast majority of the guys reading the Mustang magazines don't have access to this information. And a flashy ad like that will pull A LOT of people in. I bet they hurt with repeat customers, though--people who buy from them are first-time customers who don't come back. Eventually, that lake will dry up, too. I'm glad there are enough vendors out there that places like Excessive have no power over my decision. Just be a smart consumer and shop quality instead of price and you'll be OK. I hate places like Excessive who give Mustang guys a bad name. ------------------ Matt Harwood Harwood Performance Engineering Cleveland, OH http://www.harwoodperformance.bizland.com 1993 LX coupe: built 342, GT-40X heads, ported Cobra intake, JBA headers, 3.55s, etc., etc., etc. FOR SALE: 1997 Ranger Splash Supercab: 1995 Cobra 5.0L, 8 PSI Kenne-Bell supercharger, Tremec 3550. 319 HP @ the rear wheels. No kidding, i thought I was the only one who had problems with them, not only did I get attitude I got the wrong part sent out, to be specific it was a flowtech X-pipe supposed to be for a 94-95 model, they sent the 96-98 model X-pipe out. After I had to pay to ship it back to them, they sent out the same damn pipe to me again. Someone should write a letter to the editor in MM&FF and tell them about all of this crap on behalf of all of us. They shouldn't be allowed witht the privilage of being in a magazine like that.

I wrote MM&FF a letter awhile back. Needless to say I didn't get a response. I checked on the advertising rates and Excessive pays $1100 a page. I believe they have about 4-5 pages. I don't see how they can afford it. I also know that they have gone bankrupt once and changed ownership within the family. I saw their renegade car at WFC3 and watched it run a 10.60 on the 4th attempt to get down the track. That alone proves to me how intelligent they are in the business.
|
Luckily, for me, I've never dealt with Excessive Motorsports. Like most people, I am on a pretty strict budget when it comes to my mustang. Unfortunately, things like the mortgage and food have to come first. If I had made a purchase and got screwed by them my already high blood pressure would go through the roof and I'd be making a road trip to Blue Springs, Mo. Anway, I read someones suggestion to notify MM&FF. I also read the reply that said that they get $1100 dollars a month, per page, from Excessive. Here's my suggestion. Perhaps we could create a sort of internet petition. We could involve some, or all of the other Mustang web sites (i.e. stangnet). If MM&FF gets a petition from thousands of their subscribers, they can't possibly ignore it. As I am not too computer savy, I'm not even sure how this could be done. But I'm sure there are people on this board who do! Thanks!
|
I just can't let this die. I want to put these guys out of business. They f-ed with the wrong guy.
RMARIANI had some good ideas on how to get a petition going. I'm not the most computer savvy person either, but would be willing to head up such a task. Any other ideas on what to pursue? ALL FOR IT!
I HATE those f****. They're total con-artist, lying, cheating, know nothing incomptent ***** H0LES. 2.5 MONTHS to wait for a freaking H PIPE FOR A DAMN FOX BODY MUSTANG?????!!!!?!!!!!! My brother waited that long. He gave up the hobby out of frustration from this situation. He was only 16, just got his first car, and I had him all excited about modifying and racing blah blah. He got mad, sold the stinking car(without asking me first heh) and now all he does is work and have no fun. A petition? Hell yeah I'll sign it, and i know 20 guys who also will. I sent a letter to MM&FF(of course I'll get no response) telling them this is BS and they know it, but they don't care cause excessive fattens their wallets. I told them I will refuse to support their association with bad businesses such as excessive. This situation happened with my brother about 3 years ago. Was I mad? Yep. Did I calm down? Yep. Did I know these guys have screwed over seemingly 75% of the people they deal with? NO. The web is a wonderful thing, and in the last couple weeks I've learned that my brother wasn't the only one who may have been turned away from this hobby by worthless wastes of space such as Excessive's owners and employees.
Someone get ahold of the boss, we need a petition stickied up on the message board. I'm not even joking. I'm gonna search EVERY site I can possibly find, and print out every little bitty piece of info I can, and mail it all in a big fat(it will HAVE to be fat) envelope via Fed-Ex to Jim Campisano's desk. Sure he'll look the other way, but it's on his concience. 89cobra - you can't let it die? Well I won't, either... |
I was fortunate enough to be able to tell these guys were crooks from the very beginning. Anybody who charges your credit card before they even have the parts in stock is not right. My first stang order was from them, and thousands of dollars later, they havnt had any other orders from me.
|
It took those guys 2 months to ship my holley intake after they charged my card. Everytime I called they said It was shipped out already, but refused to give me a tracking number. After 7 weeks of calling they finally gave me a traking number. I recieved it 3 days after it was shipped, 7 1/2 weeks after they claimed it was shipped. At least they could have told me it was backordered and not charged my card.
|
I can't recall a post coming back to life after 9 months. Yeah, these guys suck. I've given up on putting them out of business. It would seem that the 3 pages of color adds in all of the Mustang Mags are enough to keep the $ coming in. They could care less about what their customers think and they could care even less about repeat business from customers. Too bad, because they have great prices. I've gotten a little bit of satisfaction from them (nothing legal);). There's more to come. |
i ordered a tremec 3550 from them with a bellhousing, and a centerforce clutch, throwout bearing, solid motor mounts, the tremec came fine, then 2 weeks later the bellhousing, then 4 days after that the clutch came with the throwout bearing and motor mounts. THE CLUTCH AND THROWOUT BEARING ENDED UP BEING WRONG, AND THE BELLHOUSING WAS FOR A T-5, NEEDLESS TO SAY I HAD TO SEND ALL THE STUFF BACK, AND HAD TO PAY FOR THE SHIPPING WITHOUT REIMBURSMENT. THEN THEY TRIED SCREWING ME WITH A RESTOCKING FEE, THEY TRIED TO SAY THAT IT WAS MY MISTAKE THAT THEY SENT THE WRONG STUFF. I WILL NEVER EVER ORDER ANOTHER THING FROM THEM AND I HOPE NO ONE ELSE DOES EITHER. I AGREE WITH EVERYONE THAT "EXCESSIVE MOTORSPORTS IS A JOKE"
|
Well Damn lol
Well I see now who you can't trust, let me check this block right here Excessive Motorsports.
I can tell you there are a few more out there, not just these clowns, that are laying the wood to good people. Watch out for those flashy ads spouting off about this and that, they are the main ones. |
Thanks
I was thinking of using Excessive Motorsports before I read this. Does anybody know of a good place in the KC area to buy fully assembled motors?
|
As a note, there is a performance industry forum with about 100 threads just like this one about Excessive Motorsports.
Why are they still in business? Their ads are enticing. They look like a large, reputable company from the pages. They probably live off the re-stocking fees. |
i checked on the bbb web site and excessive has had 45 complaints, in the past 5 yrs. thats a great, honest company lol
|
Man am i glad i saw this post. Im not a very patient person. If i get pissed i get really pissed. I was going to order a cat back exhaust and AFPR from them because they have the best prices on them. 219 for and exhaust! Anyone know of a place i can get it this cheap or maybe price match? Im on a serious budget.
|
All these wonderful cheap advertised add's might seem real nice and all.... but you guys should know they just add money to the shipping, it's like I was going to order a PRO 5.0 from a "place", and I was getting ready to check out, and shipping was $30+, for regular ups ground......yeah right, go bend someone else over. Summit & Jegs are your best bet for cheap prices, fast shipping, and reliability.
|
I wouldn't go summit either. I had a lousy experience with em. bad customer service, wrong parts, it was just a mess. I would go with jegs or brothersperformance.com. Brothers is a little more expensive, but they had great customer service and the parts were here in 3 days.
|
I've bought probaly $10,000+ worth of parts from summit with out a problem.
|
Ive had an occasional problem with Summit, and would also recommend Jegs.
|
After all of this, I think starting another thread dedicated to 'who you have bought parts from and had a good experience' might be in order. We have all heard the horror stories over and over again about excessive. Lets make a thread this long of 'the good guys to order from'!
What do you guys think? Andy |
thats been done already...and it was a very boring thread..do a search, maybe you can find it...we can spare ourselves another list...
|
How many times has this thread been done? To me it never gets any more exciting, it just pisses me off even more that people cant seem to find decent places to order from.
Andy |
Well, theres a lot of places that some people recommend and have had no problems, and a lot of other people who have had bad experiences and poor service from the same place, so its really something you just have to figure out on your own.
Most people will tell you Jegs or Summitt. Ill throw in BB&T racing. They advertise in MM&FF and I think they are great to deal with. |
i checked for summit racing on the better business bearu website, and they have only had one complaint(excessive had 45) and im sure they do a lot more volume than excessive. just my .02
|
If you're looking for a reliable, quick shipping mail order company, try Mustangs Unlimited. They have two warehouses. One in Connecticut and one in Georgia. This makes for quick delivery times if you are on the east coast.
I live in Connecticut now and have been to their place. They have a tiny little showroom with 3 or 4 guys behind the counter who have been helpful. Their warehouse is HUGE. The whole building must be 75,000 square feet. It really is a warehouse, with parts shelved 20 feet off the ground. Looks like an airplane hangar. I highly recommend them if you are sick of games. They are not the cheapest, but I'll pay the extra 5% because I KNOW I'll get my stuff and get it quickly. I've bought there in person and through the mail. No problems. Plus, once you get on their mailing list, you get their catalog which they print new editions twice a year. |
Life will throw you a lemon every now and then. I try to make lemonade when this happens. The best sugar I have found, even for lemonade, is a KIETH KRAFT RACING, in Ark. ask for Jason. Oh if you do call, tell him to send my AFRs. Jason Johnson
|
I, too decided against ordering from Excessive Motorsports after hearing all the negative talk. I wonder if they ever visit any message boards...might be a good idea for them to see that enough bad experiences truly can ruin a business. I feel its only a matter of time until they indeed go under :)
I had one problem with Scummit, and thats one out of 10+ orders. They are a huge business, and its unreasonable to expect them to be perfect. As a general rule I only expect the occasional mistake to be corrected quickly and fairly :) |
I wrote to MM&FF and attached a copy of the BBB report along with our shared opinion. This was 3 months ago, no response. Death to Excessive Motorsports!
