Exhaust dumps

I asked this before and never got a definitive response, so I thought I'd try again. Does anyone know the legality of exhaust dumps? Specifically, right after the muffler, before going over the axel, like MAC 'pro dumps'.

Dumps are not legal as far as the D.O.T is concerned. The exhaust must exit the rear of the vehicle so that the Carbon Monoxide is less likey to go into the passenger compartment. I got a Inspection ticket for them when I lived in MD, thank god PA doesn't care, no emissions. The MAC prodump's dump at the muffler, now if you buy the regular MAC system you can have a set of turn downs made so you can connect it to the flanges this will exit it right over the axles, still be nice and loud but more legal. A Flowmaster requires 12" of pipe after it to get the flow out of it per Flowmaster. I have the MAC's dumped and it sounds great!
