![]() I've been trying to pull the transmission out of my 90 5.0 (I blew 5th gear off the shaft with 11 psi at 2000 rpm). Apparently, the guy who installed the transmission for me a while ago was a gorilla and torqued the **** out of the transmission mount bolts and didn't use anti-seize.
I managed to get the bottom bolts out using a 1/2 drive ratchet and a giant breaker bar but there just isn't the room to get the top bolts loose, even with the back of the trans hanging down and a liberal dose of aero-kroil penetrating oil. Two questions: 1) Anyone have any special tools, tricks, techniques, magic to getting those top bolts out? 2) If I can't get the top bolts out, has anyone pulled the motor with the trans attached? It seems like there should be enough clearance. How about pulling the motor with the intake and everything installed? It is a real ***** to get the Kenne Bell blower on and off with the engine in the car - I 'd rather pull the whole thing. Phil |
