exhaust pipe sizes
 

I have a set of Flowmaster mufflers (I'm not sure which style) and I'm pretty sure they are 2 1/2" mufflers. The H-pipe I have is 2 1/4" and I have the stock headers on it. When I purchased the car, it didn't have tailpipes, so now I have to buy some to pass smog. Should I go with the 2 1/2" tailpipes or the 2 1/4" tailpipes? Thanks, Keith

Measure the outlet side of muffler. If its 2 1/4'' or 2 1/2 '' then get that same size tale pipe. This measerment will be the inside diam. of the outlet side of muffler. Hope this helps.

I would run the 2.5" tailpipes, if you're doing the install yourself you can take the mufflers and tailpipes to a muffler shop and have the outlet of the muffler expanded to fit the tailpipe; otherwise, you can just have them do the install for you.
