Default Exhaust problem with crossmember

Alright i just got my hooker super competition long tubes on my 88 gt and now have a problem. I bought and X piper and some flowmaster pipes but when i got under there to put them on, I discovered that the drivers side headers run right into the crossmember. Has anyone ever seen this before. I have a guy at the local muffler shop that says he could cut out part of the header and do some welding to make it happen but i cant go there because i have and offroad x-pipe w/ no cats. Also im not too good w/ the torch so i dont wanna tackle this project. Any help would be appreciated.

thanks,
James

I'm just wondering if you got the right headers for your application. You should not have to cut and splice the headers. Call Holley/Hooker and ask their tech dept. what gives? Don't cut the headers. With common applications, you should not have to do more than minor tweaking to make it fit. My bet is you have the wrong headers.

Dido, Call their tech line before you do any cutting.

This is gonna sound stupid, but do you have a double hump crossmember?
