![]() I called today and they told me $500.00 to do the upper and lower intake manifold. I thought it might be cool to have a sleeper looking motor but I was expecting it to cheaper. How does the performance compare to after market manifolds?

![]() You would most likely get more power (especially top end) out of an aftermarket intake like Edelbrock's Performer RPM, it makes power from 1500 to 6500 RPM out of the box, where even a ported stocker will fall short of that RPM range just because of the design differences.

![]() The restriction in the stock intake is the lower. The upper flows in the mid 190cfm range by itself, but add the lower and that falls to about 140cfm. I've ported well over 100 lowers and can get that total flow up into the 180-190cfm range.
A stock Cobra/Explorer/GT40 flows about 205-210 cfm stock. Porting those lower will get you into the 240-250 cfm range. Paste the link in my signatire for more info. Match the flow of the intake to the heads your using. I would use Extrude Hone only for an upper intake where you cannot get into the runners to port them out. EH cannot selectively remove material in the lower where you want to re-shape the runners walls for best flow. I have pictures of EH lower ports and my hand ported lower ports - the difference is obvious.

![]() I can't give any specific numbers, but after recieving the extrude hone price guide/manual through the mail awhile ago i remember reading that the media ported stock intake is flow matched by extrude hone to provide equal air flow to all cylinders and that it's supposed to flow similar to the Cobra intake. I don't remember exactly so you may want to talk to extrude hone about how much it flows.

![]() Spending 500 bux to extrude hone a stock intake is retarded.
I spent 400 bux for a slightly used trick flow R intake.
