fastner kits
Has anyone bought a fastner kit for their mustang? I have an 88' gt and I would like new bolts for the throttle body to upper manifold, upper manifold to lower manifold, lower manifold to block, timing chain cover, oil pan.......basically the works. I looked on the summit racing website and i'm just confused as to what to buy. Thanks

Re: fastner kits
Stay away from the Summit kits. I just had a customer bring me their stainless kit for a 5.0 and so far in the engine assembly we've only been able to use 2 bolts out of the entire kit! It looks like to me that their kit is really meant for very early 289/302 motors, not late model.

Re: fastner kits
I've had great results, thru the years, from Totally Stainless. Easy to deal with, lots of kits and individual pieces.
http://totallystainless.net/totally.html Check them out.

Re: fastner kits
A good friend of mine is a Totally Stainless dealer, let me know if you decide to go that route, I'll put you in touch with him.
We bought a "no name" chrome kit off of a guy on ebay, and it worked out REALLY well. But, like Jeff said, it seemed it was for an earlier 289/302. We put a carb on that particular motor (Ranger swap) so it wasn't an issue with us. Try Ford Racing?

Re: fastner kits
Hey Jester, I think that's the route I'm going to take. What inlet does a 88' gt have on the water pump, driver side or passenger side? I know that it has to deal with the type of rotation the pump is, but for the life of me I can't remember what it is....long day at work. Also, what's the difference between the 302 (5.0L) Passenger car up thru 1993 only kit, and the 302 driver side or passenger side kit? Which one should I get?

Re: fastner kits
The inlet is on the driver's side and it is a reverse rotation pump. The inlet has nothing to do with which way the pump rotates(pumps water). The impeller is the difference.
