Finally went to strip

Well, after all the glitches got worked out (fingers crossed),we went to T&T an 1/8 Mi. track, on Sun 7/23.

Took my car ,my brother's '85 Z28 w/create motor and a new stall 3200-3400 I think. And our freind's newly finished Notch. It has a ported carb, Edle intake AFR 185's and a pretty big cam like high .500's lift and 230's dur @.050. Oh yeah 347 stroker too.

We waited till sept to go hoping for good weather, wrong, hot, humid
anyway first time out for me since tune I went a best 8.61 @ 80.9 spinning off the line. Dude in the Notch never been down a drag strip before and went 7.95 1st time!! Then it got hotter and hotter and times droped off, Lil bro went a best 8.35, no spray.

I can't wait to get my nitrous tune, and my trap speeds Finally got right at around 80.4-80.9, from 78.8mph b-4 tune, if we'd been at pageland or moorsville (night T&T) I think I would'e went 8.30's whch is my goal on motor.
Also the 26x10.5 M/T ET Streets didn't hook like I thought they would 1.94 best 60 Ft, The McReary's went 1.86 before tune and they're tall, 265/60/15 I think.

We'll see

I think you must still have glitches. Your MPH does not match your dyno numbers.

Well you may be right, but it runs great and pulls hard? so I dunno but I hope your right Dark. That bad injector cost me 2 mph in the 1/8th and it felt ok to me on street so you could very well be right, what would you suppose my trap speed should be?
Have you read my posts about my electrical prob which I keep swapping distribruters and prob keeps popping back up, I'd like to know what you think about that, is Jeff C. still answering Q's around here?

I was running 8.77 @80.5, you should have been running around 83-84. unless you were really spinning badly

We dyno'd almost identical HP and Torque numbers and my car was trapping 85-86mph @4000 ft of altitude.

he should have been in the low 8's. I don't get it. Is he launching okay, I mean you can lose a lot of time, sitting on the tree while the lights green. My car is not all that responsive, so I can stage shallow, bfing the r's up[ to 2k (I have to really stand on the brake to keep the tires from rotating) and nail it on a fat last yellow light. A car like you guys have will have to be when the yellow go's out but before the green comes on.

Like I said if you're not cutting at least a .65 (and that ain't all that good) you will kill your E.T., but have the mph's.

Gotta go man, we bought a house and I've been freakin moving all day and if what little bit of go I got left was gasoline, it wouldn't drive a piss ant's motorcycle half way around a BB

Reaction time has nothing to do with your ET. The clock doesnt start till you break the beam. I can sit at the tree for 5 minutes while the light is green and still run the same time.

Now you know.:D

What gear are you running and what RPM are you launching at? Is it coming out of the hole hard? You said they were'nt hooking that good, are you heating them up really good before the launch? With your setup, you should be in the high 7's in the 1/8th around 85-88mph IMO. Did you feel like the clutch was slipping? How old is it and what brand?
Bottom line, practice practice practice! Good luck!

3.73 gear, leave at about 5000rpm, like I said this was first time on these tires and they were spinning bad enough that I had to short shift 2nd, clutch is a Spec stage 1 and was put in new with motor, I think with the Mcreary's It'll go low 8's dunno about 7's (until gas)

Re: Finally went to strip

Once you get some sticky tires that you can launch @ 6k on and some more tuning, you'll see your 7's without the gas if you drive it like you stole it.
