				 | Forest fire started by forest service employee I just found out the biggest forest fire in Colorado history which is still burning was started by a forest service worker. Apparently she burned a letter from her estranged husband in a camp fire ring during the fire ban and her little fire got out of control. She fled the area in her car and did not report the fire to anyone. She was actually seen by another forest ranger speeding away from the seen and the ranger got her license plate and that is how she was caught. At least they have gotten that fire somewhat under control, although there is another fire by Durango which has flared up. Stupid drought.

				 | Jeez! That's the first I've heard of this, that's awful! What a dumb way for it to start, too Most people don't know that some fires are purposely allowed to continue because it exposes soil for second growth forests! Interesting fact for the masses |

				 | I got the last part of the story wrong. They didn't catch her because someone saw her drive away. She made up the story about seeing someone else drive away from the area going very fast and said she got their license plate and then claimed to have found the fire. When her story didn't pan out to the authorities they figured out something was wrong and she admitted she started it. You would think there would be a better way dispose of the letter than burning it in the forest during the worst drought in 100 years.

				 | I just saw the feds think the forest service lady made up the story about the letter and think she deliberatley set the fire and made it look like a camp fire got out of control. And today the fires have gotten worse, The Hayman fire 113,000 acres. Durango fire 37,000 acres. And I guess there is big fire down by Sante Fe in New Mexico too.
