![]() I hooked up a Zex kit the other night before I went to the track. I set it up for the 125 shot and I ended up running a 12.7 @109. The problem is my previous best N/A was a 12.9 @ 107. I pulled the system last night to check all the connections and it all seems in order: no leaks, the right fuel and nitrous jets, and it is activating at wot. I don't have a bottle heater or pressure gauge yet so I'm not sure of the pressure it was running at. Track temp was 135* with high humidity and the barometer was really high too. I'm running autolite 3924's and the gap was .050 ( I forgot to change them to .040). My N/A run was in much better conditions but I still think I should be getting quite a bit more out of it with the nitrous. I'm going to pick up a pressure gauge for sure soon and hopefully a bottle heater. Anybody have any ideas on what could be the problem?
FWIW I'm running Edel. 6032 heads, TFS Stage 1 cam, ported Cobra intake, 70mm tb, 76mm maf w/ 24 lb inj., 190 lph fp, Kirban fpr, msd 6AL, elec. fan and assorted other bolt ons.

![]() Were you spinning a lot more on the N2O run? What was the 60 foot on your N2O run and what was the 60 foot on your 12.9 NA run?

![]() The miggest mistake nitrous users make (besides not upgrading fuel system) is not taking BOTTLE PRESSURE into account.
BOTTLE PRESSURE has a HUGE effect on the hp output of the nitrous system. If the bottle pressure is too low, you will not see a big increase in performance. Get yourself a pressure gauge and a bottle heater either from ZEX or NX. Both thoose compnies have a thermostat to shut off the heater if it gets to hot so it won't explode. Start off with the lower HP settings just to get used to the power. And keep an eye on the pressure for each run. you can keep a record of the pressure and your E.T., I'm sure you will see how they are related.

![]() even if he was spinning, his MPH would be higher.

![]() Both 60' times were 1.7's and didn't get much wheel spin. I really couldn't feel any difference from the N20, seat of the pants gauge. I was expecting a kick, but never got one, felt like it always did n/a.
![]() BTW I made 4 runs, 1st was a bad launched 13.2 (I think), and then 2 12.8's, 1 @ 108, 1 @ 109.

![]() Hey Chris, glad to see its all working now. 12's at 107? Right on, that's pretty good. How do you hook up tho? I'm having serious traction problems.
As for the nitrous thing: I ran my NOS dry system with a 125 shot and got a slower time, but my trap speed went up about 10 mph. Excessive tire spin was to blame. Damn drag radials.... I would take a look at the bottle valve, lines etc. Make sure nothing is clogged up or pinched off, It can happen. Also make sure that your control box (the nice Zex thingy) is working properly. I don't know how to test it, but if it works on the same principal as the NOS Dry kit, then make sure you're nozzle isn't in the system, all the other connections are on, and with the car off, try seeing if it'll kick on, assuming you're arming switches work with the car off. Make sure you don't allow nitrous into the engine while you do this. All this does is to see if nitrous comes out of the nozzle, and if your fuel pressure goes up. Keep in mind this is for the Dry NOS system. Hope that helps at least. Joe |

![]() Thanks Joe, I did all that and it seems to be working fine. The nitrous is definitely spraying out the jet I have in the C&L elbow and it isn't leaking anywhere I have found. All the connections on the control box are tight and not leaking. I'll take a closer look at the connections to the fpr and the vacuum line to the intake tonight, but it's all hooked up nice and proper as far as I can tell right now. It's a mystery

![]() If you get a bottle heater, you will go faster.

![]() If it was all hooked up correctly, I'd have to agree w/ RPM and say there was a problem w/ your bottle pressure.
