Fixed the problem then failed again
Ok I fixed my upper end problem today by changing my ignition pick up coil.. I was able to rev last 4K.. I made about 3 to 4 passes and it reved awsome.. then i decied to driveit to get gas and it started doing it again.. I can't pass 4000rpm. the car just looses all power and won't go past it... if i ease into it it will pass it but sound pretty crappy.. could i have a a bad pick up coil out of the box? it is a motorcraft part. do u think a bad TFI module is killing my pick up coils? I am running out of options here... any help would be great... I am trying to get this fixed for the morning... thanks:)

I'm running a stock motor and had a very similar problem. It was like I had a rev limiter at 4800rpms. It didn't buck quite like a limiter, but it wouldn't accel past it.
A friend of mine helped me change the TFI and pickup and it went away for short while. It started happening again except at 3500 or 4000 or something like that. Replace the coil with a Crane PS91 and it went away completely. I'd say replace the TFI and coil and be done with it. TFIs are known to go bad eventually anyway. Good luck, Rich D. |
ok thanks buddy, I am getting a new pick up coil, and tfi.. I have the msd blast coil.. but i also have a original so i'll see what that does and if its bad then i will change it to... thanks!
