Flowmasters
I had the 2 chamber flow's put on my 95 Mustang Gt about 3 weeks ago and they are not as loud as i thought they would have been. I was a little low on money then so i just had them install the mufflers with my stock 2 1/4 in pipes. Would the 2 1/2 in pipes make a lot more difference in sound. Also would adding maybe larger tips make it louder. I hear all these other mustangs that sound so much better than mine and all they say they have is flowmasters. Whats wrong with mine??? Also it doesnt have the backpressure popping when i slow down like most. Mine just has a low humm. Same when accelerating. Any suggestions appreciated.

by putting a bigger tailpipe on you may gain a little more low end torque..but i don't think it will be noticeable. If you can get it inspected fairly easily just cut the tailpipes off and run the flowmasters and i guarantee you..that you will get that Flowmaster sound that your looking for. Also, do you have a off road pipe?? Having converters on the car will also make it significantly quieter. And last..why in the world do you want that popping sound when you slow down?? That's the worst sound that could come out of a mustang. It sounds like a redneck pickup truck with glasspacks.

flowmaster
Yeah i still got all 4cats right now cause i've had a vehicle that i took the cats off of and inspection was a real pain. I plan on getting a free flowing h-pipe with hi flow cats sometime in the future but im on a college budget right now. Ive owned three vehicles with flowmasters and they all had the popping sound. I just figured all vehicles with flows do that.

4 Cat's are the DEVIL !!
and your FLOWS are going to get louder and louder as they wear in. I didn't think so, and now I'm looking into hi flow cats because of the noise... BUT IT'S AWSOME!!! FAWKING BLOODY AWSOME MAN! |
Flow Masters
You need to get rid of those four cats. I have a bbk 2.5 X-pipe with cats, 2 chamber 2.5 mufflers and 2.5 inch tail pipes. The car is loud enough but not enough to attract the attention of the police.
You need to put a 2.5 h-pipe with or without cats and 2.5 tail pipes. The h-pipe is louder than the x-pipe. You will be happy with the results and will have the back pressure pops that go with flow masters. |
if the car is pretty much stock don't cut off the tailpipes unless you want to kill your torque just get an aftermarket h-pipe and you will get the sound and better performance you are looking for.

I thought a poping in the exhaust when decelerating after a hard acceleration, was burnt valves. Though I could be taking a big hit off the crack bong.
|
Every mustang i've heard with offroad h-pipes (including mine) has had a slight popping in the exhaust on hard deceleration. I'm not talking backfiring, just a slight bubbling popping noise.

ahh i see

I'm getting a loud popping after hard acceleration. How do I take care of this problem. anyone!?!:p

Poping noise.
As far as I am aware, that popping noise is a byproduct of the Flowmaster design of 2 chamber mufflers. I wouldn't worry about it unless it's backfiring intstead of popping.
