![]() For anyone that has never driven a 99-01 cobra the first thing you notice about the car is lots of wheel hop. I can launch the car with no wheel hop but soon as I hit 2nd gear it wheel hops pretty bad.
I actually like the 3.27's.......they are great for street racing when you can rev 7000rpms. I would hate to install 4.30 gears and have all of the wheel hop problems amplified. I feel like if I could eliminate the wheel hop I could launch harder and run several tenths faster than I do now. I lose alot of time and mph on the 1st to 2nd shift. I think on these cars the suspension is the weak link and not the gears. If anyone has experience installing gears on an IRS Cobra with stock suspension I would love to hear the results. My car is going into the performance shop in January to have the entire exhaust redone. Mac LT headers, Mac X-pipe,mufflers etc... Then either suspension or gears,
