raising your throttle body?
In Summit they sell a "Helix Power Tower throttle body spacer" that raises the height of your throttle body an inch and claims to add 20hp. Its $90 for the 87-93 stangs. Has anyone tried this? Did it actually make a difference or is it just a waste of money?

Well its supposed to do 2 things.
1) Cool the air flowing into your intake. Which i guess in a sense it does because it gives it more time to cool down while flowing 2) spiral the air into a "hurricane" shape to cram more air into the intake. Only thing is, if you already have a grooved intake that spirals the air for you(which the H.O.'s do i believe) the spacer does almost nothing. I've had a guy try one and he didn't really feel a difference. So i guess its up to you, but don't be expecting anywhere near 20 horses outta it. Maybe 3 or 4.

On a TBI its deffinetly worth it but for a MPI with manifolds like ours its the biggest waste of money. Its a whole inch, whoa what a difference. save the money and NOS or a blower or something else that makes sense.

Does it raise it up or just straight out? I have a cleance issue with my tall valve covers and a cobra intake. If it put my tb up it would work pefect for me.

just out... keeps everything in a line, its just a spacer that goes between the throttle body and intake... it won't help with your clearance problems... sorry.

thr purpose of the 1 inch spacer is to slightly lower your power band and give you more lower rpm torque , it will work and you will see gains on a dyno , but not 20 hp maybe 5-7 . the longer the distance from the throttle body to the intake valve , the more low end power you will have . so i guess it depends on your set up and what you are trying to do . i personally would not waste my money on it with the distance on a stock intake already being long enough to provide pretty good low end torque.

gimmick
NO Bolt-on other than heads, cam, intake or Nitrous will give you 20 horsepower, not even exhaust, unless it is installed on a severely "lacking" motor pkg.
Forget it. Its a gimmick. Jay
