Default FPR Problem

Yesterday after fueling up at the gas station i decided to bump down the fuel pressure a little. So i unplugged the vaccumm line and unscrewed the lock nut and adjusted the screw to 35 psi and zipped her back up. Well i ran her home and the next day when i started the car up it started loading up real bad so i popped the hood and looked at the fp gauge and it was on like 50psi!!! Now here is the kicker, i can turn the adusting screw clockwise and the fuel pressure WILL climb. Now if i turn the adjusting screw counter clockwise it Will fall however when it reaches around 50 psi the adjusting screw looses tension ( it can be turned with my fingers) so im thinking something is screwed with the regulater. Also i had a guy get into the car and rev the car the the fuel pressure goes down and not up. Is that normal for the fuel pressure to drop instead of going up. Just to give some insight the car is a 331 with 8.5 compression for boost but not running any yet. Also im running 24lb injectors with stock fuel lines and rails, 255 in tank fuel pump. All help is appreciated.
