Default Front spring change

Hi all,

I'm changing the front springs and struts on my buddy's 88. Putting in 1 inch lowering springs. I got the struts out and the sway bar links off. Got a spring compresser right now on the drivers side. In the process of tightening the compressor down when I had to quit for the nite. Once they're tight I plan on lowering the control arm (there's a jack under it). Want to make sure I wont have an airborne spring. I am doing this right, right?

sounds like you're on the right track just lower your jack as slow as possible dont make any sudden moves and stand to the side of the fender opening. once you get the stock springs out installing the lowering springs are a breeze. good luck.

I personally will never use another spring compressor in my life. Those things scare the crap out of me.

The way I do it is to get a jack under the control arm and have either a small chain or fairly stong rope and loop it through the spring just incase it tries to jump out. Then just slowly let the jack down and the spring will just fall out (most of the time anyway)

since you are putting in shorter springs, the installation should be fairly easy and straightforward
