Question Front suspension upgrade

I'm thinking of re-doing the front suspension on my 98,000-mile '85 LX conv.

Any suggestions on good aftermarket parts, such as control arms, etc?

Are frames connectors a good idea?

Also, last winter I tried installing a strut tower connector for a carburated car (mine has the CFI throttle body injection, like a carb), and it interfered with the distributor and air cleaner snorkels. Should I have tried a connector for an '86-up FI car?

Thanks
