You'll need a new K-member for sure. Some of your wiring will need to be changed as well. Then there's your standard carb swap stuff as well like some more wiring and a new fuel pump. You'll probably want some better front suspension stuff unless your drag racing in it...then the 4 cyl stuff will be an advantage.

You'll need a new transmission and rear end as well. You'll want some wider wheels and tires (at least in the rear).

I hate to say this again and I know that noone wants to believe it but the crossmemebers are different. My friend works at Ford and the part numbers are different! His brother did the swap in a 93 vert and we aLL believed the same thing. When we got the motor in, the driveshaft pinion angles were wrong and the motor sat wrong in the engine bay. And no the car was never wrecked. The control arms for different years are also different. The later the year, the beefier the control arm and the more outward they are placed for better handling.

If your getting a new k-member, i'd price a tubular, save some massive weight right there.

How much does a K-member weigh? I've heard so many stangers talk about the big weight loss with a tubular, but about how much weight loss is it?

you guys sound like a bunch of monkeys trying to f-ck a football..why doesnt everone get on the same page and then go from there
first of all some people are talking about K members and some people are talking about transmision cross members..the k-memeber(frame under the motor)is the same on all fox chassis mustangs
crossmembers(under the tranny) are diffrent on 4 and 8cly..infact they dont even bolt up to the same brakets..all fox chassis have brakets for 8cly..on the 4 cly they add an additional bolt on braket to adapt the 4 cly crossmember..

ok and as for the control arms being pushed more outward over the years is not true..how wuold you expect to move the arms outwards and leave the same mounting brakets on the rear..if you change the angle on one you would have to do both..and i never heard of some being beefier than others either
ok, tranny you really got to get rid of besides being weak its a real PITA to get it to work with a 5.0..
as for the rears if the car came as a 4cly auto then it will have 3.73's in the rear..i have been running a '90 4cly rear(7.5") for 2 months scene i blew up my 8.8 and it works fine but i wouldnt recrmend doing it for long cuz they are extremely weak for 5.0s..
i have done EFI 4cly to 5.0 swaps b4 so if you have any questions feel free to email me
