When I did it I

1. undid the clamps

2. disconnected one hose ( going to the motor)

3. got a shower of gas on my chest until I propped the hose going to the filter up out of the way! (lol)

4. your new filter SHOULD have (2, plastic)new clamps that go over where the hoses meet the filter.

5. you are good to go after that!

stanger8172 has it down. Just be conscious of the flow direction arrow and use a large rag or towel to avoid the gas shower. Oh, and no smoking!!

To avoid that wonderful gas shower:

1) Don't attempt to remove fuel filter directly after shutting off the car-- allow some pressure to drop.

2) Use a rag and wrap the filter, then get a pliers and unclamp the clamps (most likely those difficult, non-screw tightening metal clamps).

lol! i'm amazed noone mentioned it, but your supposed to run the car, then go back and trip the inertia switch to drop the pressure (the car will stall). doing that reduces the gas shower. thanks guys!
