Fuel Injector cleaning???

Good evening all,

I have been away for a while but am back with a semi basic question.
Has anyone cleaned fuel injectors on a car through the fuel rails? I am sure they(3m or someone like that) sell kits to hook to the rails and feed cleaner through a pressurized can. Has anyone had experience with this, or have I been to close to the tank with the lid off (ha,ha)
Any help would be appreciated. I don't want to buy new injectors at this time, am looking for a relatively cheap fix.

Well, every 3,000 miles or so I usualy dump about 1/4 cup of Marvel Mystery oil into my gas tank right before filling it. I've been doing it for 4 years on the 5.0 now with no ill effect's, and it definatly helps to de-crud the fuel lines / injector's. I usualy notice a bit more pep at the pedal when I use this. I also used to use it in the crankcase, but Ive switched to synthetic oil and Im a bit nervous about adding stuff to synth. (Just my own uncertainty there).

If you want to add some to your oil, best bet would be doing so about 300-400 miles prior to an oil change, give it some time to work at any of the crud already existing.

injector cleaning

John,
I agree with Fritz.........I have been doing the same thing with Marvelous Mystery Motor Oil for about a year since my new engine installation and I feel that same bit of pep he mentioned.I also use 0-60 octane booster in each tank and it keeps the engine extremely clean and gives me about 4-6 more points of octane.I use 93 all the time in my car and with the booster I am really close to 100 octane and it makes the car run fabulous.

Bigtime expensive solutions can be avoided by just using MMMO and octane booster.

I think mustang928 has a good alternative for you if the 1/4 cup from the $5 quart of Marvel Mystery Oil dosent do the trick.

Good evening all,

Thanks for the replies. I have done some searching on the web and am going to fo with the mystery oil first.
If it does not solve problem than I will look at mustang928s kit at mustangunlimited.
Once again thanks for the input.
