Fuel Pump Question
My fuel pump is extremely noisy, so I assume it's about ready to check out. At first I was planning on going down to the local parts store and buying a stock replacement.....now I'm toying with the idea of buying a BBK 110lph fuel pump instead.
Would this be a waste of money on a mostly stock car (hogged out cats, magnaflow mufflers, removed air silencer, K&N filter, Soon to have 65mm TB and BM Fan)? If I was to buy this fuel pump, would it require a FPR? There are no serious engine mods planned for more than a year. Headers, 3.27/3.55gears and underdrives is all I have planned. BTW--1986GT, 163k, 5spd, 2.73's Thanks in advance, Jeremiah A.

I cant say from experience but i know that pumps can make a difference. I have a friend with an 88 5.0 and he did a bigger pump and said it made a noticeable improvement. And its something to also keep in mind if you plan on doing mod's down the road.

While you are doing the pump, you may as well stick a 155 or 190 lph pump in there. That way you can support future mods that you might decide to do.
Even if you just install the 110, it would not be a waste on a mostly stock car. The stock fuel pump was one of the marginal parts that cam on Mustangs, so the upgrade won't hurt. And, as far as your FPR question. You would not need to buy an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. You already have the stock FPR, which is not adjustable. It would be nice to eventually have an adjustable FPR in order to optimize your fuel settings for whatever combo you might run, but it is not required when buying a bigger fuel pump.
