Fuel Pump
I'm going to replace my fuel pump, but was wondering which one to get? The FRPP 155 or the Holley 155? What else beside the pump will I need? The catelogue states that the FRPP comes with the pump and sock, and the Holley comes with the pump, pick-up, accessories and instructions? I'm leaning towards the holley since it comes with other things that are needed. But not sure yet. How hard is it to install a pump?
I plan on heads soon (also, not sure if Tricks or AFR 165) so I want to be prepared with the extra fuel needed. 1990 LX 124,000 miles |
I got the Holley 190 lph pump and it comes with everything you need to install it. The pump is actually made by Walboro (sp?), but I think that a lot of pumps are made by them. I had a 2-year old stock replacement pump made by Carter that went out on me, so this time I figured I get a bigger pump made by someone else. So far it has worked fine. (knock on wood)
The installation wasn't too bad. Its kind of a pain in the a$$ to get the damn thing to fit back in the tank after you get it assembled, but it can be done. If you have any questions, let me know. ------------------ 1991 GT, AOD, Moroso Cold Air, 3.73s, Pulleys, 3-chambers soon to be dumps after new h-pipe, FMS c-springs, and KYBs, A/c delete, 190 LPH fuel pump, 3-row radiator |
Thanks MTU 50, thats one of the reason why I'm leaning towards the Holley since it comes with the stuff needed.
My pump is about a year old, however I had it changed in pep-boys. When I planned a trip, 6 hours into my trip the pump fail right in front of a pep-boys I had no choice but to have them replace it. I'm just concerned what type of pump was used. |
