Fuel pump and injector swap problem...

We just finished swapping out injectors on a friends car. He had the stock 19#ers in there and some of the pintles were damaged so we took them out. The replacements were supposedly "Explorer" injectors which I was told would work fine. They are the same color, but different design and shape. The plugs are the same as the Mustang and the injectors bolt in correctly. We went to turn on the car and the fuel pump does not come on. Nothing else has been messed with as far as wiring.

Voltmeter shows 6-7 volts at the inertia swith plug (middle terminal out of three). This is a '92 by the way. The 6-7 volts seems wrong as it is supposed to have battery voltage with the KOEO. The 6-7 volts goes away when the key is turned off.

Any ideas? Are they the wrong injectors and they are causing a problem somewhere? Fuel pump relay was replaced recently. Why would he only be getting 6-7 volts at KOEO?

The injectors are not your problem. I suspect your fuel pump relay is shot - it sends the 12v to the inertia switch. 6-7 volts is WAY to low to run the pump.

O.K. we'll check it out. Thanks for the help.

Tmoss, I saw your response on the Corral and you stated that they should have 4 holes. The set that I have has 3 holes in the bottom. Does that change anything?

No, it won't affect performance as long as their clean.

I wasn't worried about the performance aspect. Just wondering if that meant they were some other type of injector that won't work on the car.

We are going to try the fuel pump relay tonight.
