fuel pump not running !???

ok i just put a used fuel pump that was out of my car back in. the reason i put it back in was cuz i had holly 190 given to me by a buddy, i took it out cuz his car was a fire and the fire was at the back and the pump was in his car so anyway i put mine back in and did everything right i checked everything over and over but i did take the factory hose that runs from the pump to my fuel filter and put fuel hose on it instead with hose clamps, dose it make a difference.( i lost the clips for the factory on thats why i put the fuel hose on it. oh ya and pump wont run everything is hooked up where to start??

sorry so long

The first thing to check is the momentary shut off in the back of the trunk or hatch by the left tail light, It shuts the fuel pump off in case of an accident. The second thing to check is the fuel pump relay. I have a 90 and it is located under the driver seat. After checking those you may have to drop the gas tank again and recheck all the wiring. I hope this helps, good luck

Dog 5oh's advice sounds good to me.
when you check the FP relay, test the terminals. that will tell you what direction to go (i.e. is the puter sending ground to the relay, is there feed power from the fusable link, etc).

you can also jump the pump with a paper clip on the code tester connector. that might help with diagnosis.
good luck.

hey thanks for the help

i check the shut off and pushed it in. my relay is about 1 year old and my ground wire is new aswell from the pump??

everything worked when i droped it. could i have a bare wire in the tanks would that stop it from trunning on?? i put shrink rap on them but may be not good enough.

thanks
mike
