Gas Gauge Dosent Work Any More Help.....
This Is The Deal I Had An 83 Mustang And The Body Was Shot So I Got An 88 Lx 5.0 Body And Swaped Everything Over Including Motor, Trans, Seats, Gas Tank, Front Clip, Hatch Ect... My Gas Gauge Worked In My 83 It Had 2 Wires Black And Yellow Sending Unit Wires But The Car Has 4 Wires 2 Blacks A Red An Yellow Wired Up The Yel To Yel An Blk To Blk An Nothing Wired Blk To Other Blk An Nothing I Took A Test Light To All The Wires And Nothing Help Or Is There Another Way To Wire Up My Fuel Gauge Please Help Thanks In Advance

You need the sending unit that matches the body. the 83 tank/sender wasn't fuel injected, the 88 is. The gauge and sender work differently on the newer body.

I looked at the dash diagram for 87-93 Stang - the fuel sender is supposed to be a yellow wire with white stripe that goes to the dash and a black wire from the sending unit that goes to ground. Try the other black wire after checking if they go to ground with an ohmeter.

Did they change the Ohms on the senders/gauges? I notice Autometer said something about early/late Ford on the fuel gauges, or are they talking EARLY Ford?

Yeah the problem there is that you have a Carb'd fuel pump, in an EFI car. Swap the pumps and everything should be golden.
