Gears....
The average is about $200. Go somewhere that can provide references or research it yourself. It is one installation that is worth a few extra $$$ to have it done right.

Gears...
Most of the places that I have heard include the installation kit with their price. It includes installation, kit, adjustment and sometimes gear oil. Your seal should be covered in the price. If you are not buying the gears from the shop installing them, they will probably charge you for the installation kit.

get the installation kit because there are additional parts that they need to install the gears: u know bearings, seals, and other fun stuff. They will just use the old stuff if u do not bring them the kit, that is what a lot of places do. But for sure u get richmond gears they are really strong, but they howl alot, only draw back to driving with them on the street but u get use to them. i paid 250.00 for install. I have 3:73 and they pull real good, just to give u an example i saw at the track. I ran a few hatches at the track, talked to one guy with 87 just like mine, he had the stock 2:73 and his best time was a 15.5 he had headers and o/r h-pipe and slicks. I had 3:73's off road h-pipe stock headers and street tires and ran the best time of 14.2 @ 98 but what do i know the kid maybe couldnt shift

You got a bad install if your Richmond's howl alot. I've installed many sets of Richmonds and they don't howl if installed correctly. No gear should howl if installed to the mesh parameters specified for the gears. They are all checked for mesh quality and lapped prior to final heat treat.
