Default Timing Cover problems...

I was helping my buddy put his 70 model 351 motor together the other day.. started to put the front end all on it nd the iming cover wont go.... Its hitting the fuel pump eccentric and lacks a big 1/6th of an inch before it would even touch the block. I know gasket will make up some but still not enough to make it right after it is torqued.. It is my understanding the 302 and 351 front covers are the same?? Is there a different fuel pump eccentric that could be purchased and solve the problem? Or would swaping to an electric fuel; pump be a better option. This is a .040 over 351 with a mild cam... any suggestions..

Brad

Brad, the only way i see it going on is to put a electric fuel pump on it. Good luck with it.
