Default Gears and Diff.

Right now I have a 1994 8.8 with limited slip. It has 28-spline axles and Richmond 3.73 gears. My dad just bought an 8.8 out of a 1999 Ford Explorer Sport to put into an 88 jeep wrangler. It is an 8.8 with 31 spline axles and stock 3.73 gears.

My question is my rear end needs rebuilding. Would it be worth takning the diff out of the Explorer and put it in my rearend. I know I would have to go buy new 31-spline axles.

Also what gears are better Richmond 3.73 or stock 3.73's out of an Explorer?

Thanks
