General 1/4 Guesstimate...after these mods.

Wondering about what I can run (best - worst) under cold morning conditions at sea level after these modifications.

BBK Equal-length long headers.
MAC cat-back exhaust.
Full cone intake (K&N) located in fender.
15" Michelin Pilot tires with stock rims.
Aftermarket off-road h-pipe.
Custom Chip
3.73 Gears

1990 Ford Mustang LX 5.0
AOD Transmission.
All new wires/plugs/gasket and just about everything from Ford Racing.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
DoranW

Mid to High 14's.
Only a guess though. This is only from seeing other mustangs with similar mods on an auto. You really need to help it out by getting a loose converter and shift kit. Then get traction and you will fly!

What's your mileage? Depending on the shape of your Stang and how it's tuned, I'd think you'd run anywhere from mid-13's to mid 14's! Need more info 1st.

My car is in really good shape for its age. Just got a full $600 dollar tune-up guarenteed to bring it above stock performance. Not bad for an 11 year old car.

What does it a loose converter do/give me. Same with shift kit? I heard that the shift kit also makes it more fun to drive. Why is that?

i'll guess 15.0's at 96 mph. a looser converter help you leave the line faster cause you can bring the rpm's up more.

I've seen bone stock 5 speed cars run 13.5's
my advise to you is to ditch the aod and get a t-5 and watch your car hit 12's with some slicks!!!!
best of luck

But after I get the chip, shouldn't it be almost as good as a manual? The chip would raise the redline, and then shift at the redline making it technically as good as most good manual drivers.

Normally with your mods I wouldn't recommend getting a chip yet, but since you have an AOD I'd get one.....my recommendation (.02) is that you go w/ a JMS Chip.

I am getting the chip last with custom programming.

a chip will not make your AOD even close to the performance of a manual no matter what kind of chip you get, your shift point idea can be done for free, its the 1-d-1 shift, if you want to make your car close to the performance of a manual you will need a stall converter in the 3000RPM range and a vlave body that will allow you to shift it yourself without hurting the tranny (unlike 1d1 on a stocker) i suggest looking at lentech for the valvebody and performance industries for the converter, oh yah, when my car was an AOD and i had similar mods to yours i was running mid-low 14s on a crappy track with street tires
