Question GM question....

As many of you know, my Dad passed away this year. I inherited his '93 Olds Eighty Eight LSS. I have a few questions about general stuff and ABS and was wondering if you guys might know of a site like this one that deals with GM in general, or if any of you might know of GM stuff in general? Thanks!

Question

cool!
OK First off... the ABS. The ABS and traction control have been disabled in the car (I'm guessing because of a code thrown) What are some common things I should check on it? I have a code scanner for the car but the ABS scan part ended with the 1990 eighty eight. Do you know of any other scan tool out there that I could diagnose the ABS with? The brakes have some pretty good vibration when you apply them, kinda feels like a warped rotor, would this affect the ABS?
Idle quality... I have performed a tune-up on the car, all of the tune up necessities. Sometimes after driving on the highway the idle will stick to like 1,500 to 2,000 rpm. It will go back to normal if I shut the car off and turn it on again. The other day the service engine soon light came on and said it was the TPS (as per code scanner). Think that might be the high idle issue?
I think that's aboout it for now... the car is pretty cool actually for a work car, it has about 82,000 miles and has been used for towing stuff before, so it wasn't all that easy of a life for it! But it has A/C which I sorely miss in my Stang!
Thanks for checkin it out, man! Any thoughts would be cool!

Cool

Any free car is ok in my book. As far as any FWD POS, the GM models with the Buick 3.8 liter V6 are about the best running out there for reliability. The 94 up ( 97 up for the midsize and Camaros) models with the Gen II 3.8 are better

Your idle speed problem may be a sticking IAC motor, Your stang uses a similar stepper motor to control the idle speed, carbon builds up on the orifice and pintle valve. GM cars are easy to get codes out of the computer, you just jumper the top right two pins in the ALDL connector which is usually mounted ont the edge of the dash near the drivers seat, visiable pointing towards the driver. A KOEO test will flash the check engine light, code 12 is the handshake code followed by the trouble codes.
