Anybody good at estimating Horsepower ?
If I don't buy the '99 GT I'm looking at I am gonna build a 351W I have to go in my '92 . Here's what I am putting together:
'69 351W block bored .030",10.5:1-11:1 CR (haven't decided yet), World Products Windsor SR iron heads,CompCams Xtreme Energy 284 cam kit( 284int 296 advertised duration,.541"int-.544"exh, with a 110 degree lobe seperation),Summit Timing Gears,MSD Billet Dist.-Blaster3 coil-6AL ignition,Edelbrock Victor Jr. or Performer RPM intake (Taking suggestions here),750 Speed Demon carb, and Hooker 1 3/4" engine swap headers . Will this get me near my N/A 400 HP goal ? It will still be my daily driver, thats why I am taking suggestions on intakes. Will the Vic intake hurt driveability that bad ? Thanks in adavance, ------------------ '92 GT,B-303,70mm T-Body,73mm C&L MAF,Accel Cap-Rotor-wires,K&N,BBK Cold Air Kit,Superchip,Off-Road H-Pipe,DynoMax Turbo Tube Cat-Back,Hays clutch,Hurst shifter,3.73's,245/50/16 Nitto 555 Extreme Drags, and NOS Stage 2 kit-100 shot [This message has been edited by Stang_92 (edited 03-06-2001).] |

I would suspect it would make that hp, maybe a little over. My question is why stay carburated? Fuel injection is way more reliable and easier to tune. Then you could strap on a blower or a turbo, and if you are in to it, Nitrous. Well, Nitrous can still be used, disreguard that. It's just my opinion that Fuel injection is the way to go, more power gains in it. But, opinions are like....ahem. You know the rest. Hope I helped more than I hurt.

Yeah I would agree here, especially if your talking crankshaft HP, shouldn't be any sweat.
The Dyno2000 sim predicts 396 hp @ 6000 rpm and 405 foot pounds of torque at 4500 rpm with an 11:1 compression ratio and a single plane manifold. using a small tube header (around 1-3/4 with a muffler) However if you subsitute 185 cc AFR cylinder heads power jumps to 445 hp @ 6000 rpm and 426 ft/lbs. of torque @ 5000 rpm Using a set of Trickflow Street heads nets; 435 hp @ 6000 rpm and 423 ft/lbs. @ 5000 rpm. Using a set of Holley Systmax heads nets; 418 hp @ 6000 rpm and 415 ft/lbs. of torque at 4500 rpm. Using a set of Trickflow R heads nets; 475 hp @ 6500 rpm and 435 ft/lbs of torque @ 4500 rpm. Howeverhere lies the problem with sim dyno's this assumes there is excellent velocity and fuel mixture despite the size of the heads. so while this might look like the best bet, I would say using the TFS R heads would be like running a BOSS 429 in production trim (read lazy pig) then again who knows ((shrugs)) |

Those seem like numbers I am wanting to see Are you talking about TrickFlow Street heat , or Twisted Wedge heads ? And how much do the AFR heads run ?
Now another question how fast would 445HP make me run ? Assuming I had traction, say on 26x10 slicks . My car weighs in around 3300lbs . Thanks for all your help guys.. Ohh yea my car is a Fuely right now, but a carb just seems simpler . |

Given that that is crankshaft hp, your rear wheel hp is probably in the neighborhood of 370 hp (maybe less), and if 3300 lbs is the race weight of your vehicle, then that should put you into the high 11's/low 12's
