Is it a good buy for a rotating assembly?

I was shopping around on the internet for a rotating assembly for my 306 im building and came upon this...

NEW 4340 FORGED steel 3.00 stroke crank.

NEW 5.09" I-beam rods and Keith Black pistons.

Rod and main bearings included.

This all comes in a kit. To me this looks like a hell of deal for 799. It cost 50 dollars to ship and im not sure if it comes with rings, rod bolts, pins. etc... And it will have to be balanced for 150-$200 Im calling tomorrow for all the details.

But for whats there is it worth it? isn't a steel 4340 crank usually around 600 by itself?

That deal sounds a little too good to be true. Who is offering this?

FWIW, my DSS 331 cu. in. stroker kit with 4340 Steel crank (3.25"), Probe Sportsman Race Series full floating pistons, 4340 H-Beams (5.315"), Speed Pro bearings. and Speed Pro Plasma moly (ductile iron) ring set was $1,770.

speedwaymotors.com is offering this... I emailed them to make sure they didn't miss put down a wrong price or equipment or to make sure im just not understanding it correctly.

The partnumber is 915305...
I called and its a scat crank
production rods
and he said he could go .030 over for the pistons but they had to be dome style ... I think that might be too much compression for what im wanting.

Im not sure about scat... is that a good brand? Is it still a good deal?

SCAT is an excellent crankshaft. Check out their website at www.scatcrankshafts.com

I don't think you'd want a dome type piston - you would definitely need special valve notches and your compression would probably be higher than you would like. Flat-top's would work better - unless you are going for higher compression.

Well i have been looking around and doing some pricing...

4340 Scat crank = 460
Ford production rods = 180
keith black pistons = 190 + 40 for domed

830

Its not that great of a deal now that i have looked into it... I mean you get bearings with the kit and that looks like the greatest atvantage... save maybe 60 bucks with shipping and bearings.

Yet again something that looks really good ends up not being all that great.
