I've had my Griffin radiator for 2 or 3 years now and it's great. It was actually cooling too well, so I had to increase the termostat temp to 195 ( I had a 180 in it). Even with the 195 termo, I run around 180 degrees.

You can order it on-line through JEGS. That's what I did.

Good luck,
E

I just bought an Autozone 3 row and haven't had any problems so far, know several people running them and all seem to like 'em. Pep boys also has a similar model stangers seem happy with. Heard the Pep Boys one was going for $99, I got my Autozone one for $119.

they say they dont carry it for my year

Okay, STOP!

Please answer me these two questions:

1) Have you corrected your coolant/water mixture? You should be using NO MORE than 10% coolant, and the rest water.

2) Does the radiator ever overflow?

It was a very important typo. Thank you for setting the record straight.

If it's not overflowing, how are you determining that you have a problem? Is your temp gauge an aftermarket gauge or stock? Mechanical or electric? Your radiator cap should permit an overflow if your coolant temp gets too hot. I'm not trying to argue with you, I'm trying to help you. Your two threads on this have been kind of sketchy on info. We're neighbors, let's figure this out.

Take care,
-Chris

P.S. Since you are so close, you might want to try calling Jim Baker (ask for Baker) at Hawaii Racing in Simi Valley (583-8880) after 9am, for any parts you need.

sorry obut being sckecthy on the deatails im kinda frustated with the thing, ok the i have tryed 2 differnet thermostats, no theremostat, pure water, 10/90, different caps, the gauge that i am/ was using is an autometer gauge (electric), i even got a new sending unit and tried a friends gauge still climbs right up to 250 untill i shut it down, the fan does turn on and off, the radiator was freshy redone, rodded the whole deal, but it doesnt over flow, as of yet. so im kinda stumped dont know what to do exepct get a new radiator and i kinda CANT afford one, so umm yeah dontknow hwart else to say... i usullay get all my stuff from HAWAII or PAW but i prefer PAW over hawaii cuz hawaii screwed me hard twice with there return policy....no need to go on a tangent bout that....... thanks for your help and your paticence

I THINK IT'S UPGRADE TIME WITH THE COMBO YOU HAVE.:)

Ok, this kinda sounds like you blew a head gasket....check the oil and tell us what it looks like. Also what kind of radiator are you running now? And your car has a stock electric fan right? I also bought a Autozone "Heavy Duty" one (I was in a bind)and it worked great, and I never had any problems with it, I was pretty impressed. It was $149.

MidNiteBlu 5.0 02-24-2002 10:22 PM

I had problems with my car running too cold so i decided to replace the thermostat and my hoses were leaking so i replaced them. When i was starting this i fould my radiator to be all plugged up on the bottom so i bought the auto zone heavy duty 3core one for 120 bucks. I put in the 180 deg thermostat and it runs in the middle of the normal range all the time now (stock gauge with new sender). i wanna get an autometer gauge in the future to see the real number but i have neverh ad any overheating problems although my car is just a little less modified than yours ;)

PKRWUD 02-27-2002 05:10 AM

I'm glad you figured it out. The one thing that was really bothering me was why it wasn't puking if it was getting that hot. I know what you mean about Hawaii... Joe (owner) can be a real prickless SOB. Baker is a good guy, though.

Take care,
-Chris

Patrick Boetticher 02-27-2002 01:51 PM

its not the guys its the return policy.... it sucks....... they sold me a flowmaster system that was not the right one.... there answer was too bad... i was stuck with it.... how am i supposed to know that it wasnt the right one....... ohh well i dont like to bash

thnks for the help
